Humidity is NOT our friend

Humidity is sooooo not cool, nor dry, nor pleasurable...in fact humidity is not my friend. Let me explain...as if there needs an explanation...well maybe for all you arizonians who haven't really experienced humidity (no, the "monsoon" season doesn't count because it's just a "season" and not a daily, ever constant force fighting against all that is good when it comes to hair styling products).

On day one of our wonderful, blissfull Hawaii trip, I stepped off the plane to a breath of beautiful moisture. It was so pleasant I kepts saying, "this is so nice." Chad was a little hesitant to share in my new found friend humidity. In fact, upon entering our resort room (which, by the way is fantastic! It has a view of the ocean and a cute little black kitten that stopped by to say hi!) Chad's fear was confirmed...he couldn't find the AC unit. It only took him about 20 seconds to scan the entire room and determine (which he vocallized repeatedly) that this vacation was going to suck because there was no air conditioning. For me, well, I was still in the state of humidity friendship. I proceded to calm him down adding it will be soooo nice during the evenings (which it becomes cool and breezy). He went on a rant for a little bit; I let him let it all out. Then he stuck his head in the freezer and was relieved temporily.

All in all...Chad has a tolerable relationship budding...Me, our friendship is dead to me. I've been patient with it, all that I ask is to get one day of nice hair. It's not too much to ask for, right. nope, evidently humidity is selfish. It doesn't care if you want something...no, just plain selfish. Think of my hair as one giant poofball that can only be put up in a ponytail for so many days straight before a perpetual headache establishes a relationship with my head!!! So as of right now I'm ending my little rant where I vocolized repeatedly that the rest of my vacation is going to suck because I've swelled. My hair has swelled, my face has swelled, my big toe has swelled. My body is used to having the moisture sucked out of it. Here, when you drink water to stay hydrated...you need about 1/2 as much as you would need in Arizona. This is my warning to all girls everywhere...Don't plan on looking cute in Hawaii cuz unless you have perfect hair, it will turn against you (no matter how much product you apply) and make you into a ranting babbling chica whose husband will calmy say "but honey, you're beautiful" Don't get mad...Husbands are being truthful...don't misunderstand them. They just don't feeeeeel the selfishness of the humidity at this point, they don't feeeeeel how their butt won't fit into the jeans because they're retaining water due to the lovely selfish humidity.

Ahhh....humidity, presious selfish humidity. Tomorrow, I will not fight it...I will stick my head in the freezer for relief, then go to the beach and learn to surf...that will teach that humidity to mess with me. If I can't fight it then I might as well join it. Ahh, salty ocean here we come (looks forgone)

All of you who live in humidity for more than 4 days straight...may God be with you. I now share your frustration.

Brown stuff coming from our ice maker...huh!

So this afternoon Chad wanted a nice glass of ice water, but our ice maker kept spitting out weird stuff. I was in the other room working on the computer when I heard "oh, crap...don't come in here". Yeah, of course I had to look. So when I came into the kitchen I found him diggin in the ice bucket. I looked closer and found what he was looking for. It was brown, it was chunky and...it was chocolatey. In case you're wondering...it was a chocolate almond cluster that Chad had put in the freezer who knows how long ago. In the midst of my giggling, I snapped some photos. He He!

Yummy! It still tasted like chocolate, but just really cold!

Friends in Buffalo, MO

Cindy and her little girl, Isabel

The whole gang together!

When we were in Buffalo, MO we were able to meet up with a couple of old friends that Chad went to high school with. We met up for pizza at Hip Pocket pizza (the local pizza place) and had a great time catching up with Cindy and Bethany...Chad's former bandmates in high school. Cindy and her husband, Jason, have three beautiful well behaved children. We learned so much about them just watching them interact with each other! "Brother" is always so kind to his younger sister Isabel. It was very cute how they played shy for a bit, then warmed over pretty quickly! Bethany and her husband, Clint, showed us a little bit of downtown Springfield later that night on our way to a great dueling piano bar. We had fun belting out lyrics to old songs from high school days! It was a good thing we got there early and left before all the craziness took over. Overall, it was a fantastic evening spent with great friends!

Missouri Trip Day 1

We finally made it!!!! It's been 8 years (as long as I've known Chad) that he has been wanting to visit Buffalo, Missouri. From the time he was 11yrs until about 16yrs old, he grew up in this small town in southwest Missouri. He told me stories of how the high schoolers would cruise from the local Sonic Drive-In to the nearby Dairy Queen down the street. He has so many great memories from their 100 acre ranch where they spent time exploring the Ozarks! So this morning we boarded a flight and in no time (our flight was an hour early!) we arrived in Kansas City. After a beautifully scenic 3 hour drive (and I'm not one for driving) we arrived in Buffalo. Yeah! Here are some pics from the ranch and the town's middle school where chad went to 8th grade. It's also the place where he broke is leg (the first time).

Oh, then we stopped by Dale Brown's Eastside Tavern for the most deleicious juiciest cheeseburgers we've ever had. Seriously fresh and yummy! Sorry no pics of them yet...more coming!

Missouri Trip

River crossing anyone?!

So a couple weekends ago we went camping with some friends, Dean and Kristi. We went on a couple good hikes involving a bit of river crossing. Well, in all honesty it was more like a small stream of water leading into the lake, but for all intense and purposes of this story...let's call it a river. Remember, we're assuming the water level is fairly deep (it really was about 6inches deep...maybe more in some places). Anyways, us girls stood back and watched as the guys so kindly gathered rocks from the river bed and put them in the stream so we could cross. They did a great job and ultimately were the reason we were able to cross. It was funny watching them almost fall in as they teetered on the unsteady rocks with the stream gushing by under their feet! Even the video captures the fast moving water!

It's not what it sounds like!

So my niece,Ally (2yrs old in June), has been learning all kinds of new words. She even acts out what a turtle does and makes a cute face for a fish. It's the cutest thing. Well, she learned what the word "ocean" meant and started saying it in the grocery store one day. I guess my sister didn't really realize what she was saying because Ally left off he last letter making it sounded like a naughty phrase (use your imagination on this one). In the name of all that is funny I just had to get some video of it! She'll laugh about it when she's older!
