22 week bump!

Miss May snuck into the nursery and fell asleep in the crib...Maybe she's still a little attached to the room since it used to belong to the cats!

Me at 22 weeks...seriously, it's getting bigger!

We caught Bubba with his paw up on my belly...can you feel Roman kick!? Cats are funny.

Pretty plants!

I decided that the space above our kitchen cabinets was looking kinda bare. Many people use it as a plant ledge, so I thought I would get creative and try to put together something from Michaels. Sporting my 40% off coupons and and the Michaels ad, I searched the store for some pretty plants and flowers. Here's the result. However, please keep in mind that my creativity is simplicity combined with functionality...so it's nothing over the top or flashy...you can't tell that I was an engineer?!! I bought enough accent flowers to change with the seasons (thinking ahead makes the creativity functional!) LOL!

Of course, Miss May (our 1 yr old kitty) had to check out the new stuff...nearly tipping over the vase...I'm preparing myself for the day when I walk into the kitchen and all the plants/flowers are on the ground and the cats are performing "jungle training" Oh, good times!

Baby's room wall paper

So we got a tip from Chad's cousin that it is easier to put up wall paper using a squirt bottle...soooooo, we tried it when we did the wall paper in Roman's room. We haven't done much decorating, but here's the wall paper pics. Because we are dorks (I say that in the most self-aware way), we had a system to how we put up the wallpaper. Chad cut (using my handy-dandy scrapbook cutter!) the paper then held it up while and I squirted on the water...it was fun!

Oh and our walls are not quite level so the wall paper kinda looks slanted, but as much as it bothers us...we're like...ah, who cares...Roman's not going to come out looking for straight and parallel lines! That might take a few years before that genetic trait kicks in!

19 week bump

So I'm finally starting to get a bump where I don't look fat...but rather, kinda pregnant. Yeah!

It's a Boy!!!

We're having a baby boy! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!! We're beyond excited over here! I'm trying to upload the ultrasound photos to the blog,

At 11 weeks..kinda looks like he's holding his hands up

At 19 weeks...definitely holding his hands up...he kept moving around and flipping. At one point he was pushing onto the placenta with his hands!

This one is of his spine! How cool is that...you can see every bone in his spine! Amazing what God has made and how intricate we are put together/knitted in the womb!

His name is going to be Roman James McDonald...named after two of our favorite books of the Bible. We particularly like Romans 5:3-5 ...we are to rejoice in our suffering, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us because God poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit... In James 1:2-3 it says Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. This verse reminds us that suffering/trials makes us stronger and builds our faith and character. After the miscarriage back in 2006, this verse along with Philippians's 4:13. (I can do all things through Christ who give me strength) helped Chad and I through our trial and suffering.

It's funny cuz we've had our names (one girl name and one boy name) picked out since we started considering having kids, back in 2006. So, when this pregnancy became viable, we have been excitedly waiting to meet the one God wanted to give us first! And yes, I'm already thinking about the little Diamondback outfits I can dress him in and all the fun he's gonna have playing catch with daddy. He's my little man!
